In modern industrial production, molds are widely used in various fields, play a vital role in manufacturing, and even directly determine the efficiency of product production and the cost and quality of production. Understanding the importance of molds is not just about improving production efficiency and quality, but also about our commitment to reducing costs and achieving sustainable development, which positively impacts industrial production.
Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is a competitive advantage that is considered during the mold design and manufacturing process. It ensures that the product can be produced and assembled at the lowest cost and highest efficiency, giving your company an edge in the market. This design approach considers the feasibility and efficiency of manufacturing at an early stage of product development, thus avoiding possible design changes and increased production costs at a later stage. Applying DFM in mold design can help optimize the structure of the mold, reduce production costs, and enhance the product’s market competitiveness. For example, by analyzing the structural characteristics of a product, possible manufacturing challenges, such as the design of parting surfaces and the selection of snap structures, can be predicted at the design stage. This competitive advantage allows for optimization adjustments to be made in advance, ensuring the smooth fabrication of the mold and the smooth production of the product.
Every product and every mold is very different, and your role in their production is integral. This means that every product and every mold has a different production schedule. To give you an idea of the required lead time, we have provided the following “standard” schedule.

For a regular order, the whole process, from contract confirmation of the order to the successful first prototype of the mold, takes about 35-45 days, and the actual time required varies according to the time needed for different projects.
| 1 | Detailed engineering and mold construction | 1-2 weeks |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | Mold Manufacturing(First Sample) | 35-45 Days |
| 3 | Sample molding and measurement reports | 2-3 Days |
| 4 | Sample evaluation by the customer | 1-2 weeks |
| 5 | Possible adjustments to molds | 7-12 Days |
| 6 | New sample results | 2-3 Days |
| 7 | Customer Approval | 1-2 weeks |
| 8 | Started small-scale production | 1-3 weeks |

We have 60T-500T injection molding machines, which accommodate up to 825mm 825mm 820mm (lengthwidththickness) molds. Our CNC machining centers can achieve ±0.015mm machining accuracy for the molds and conduct online testing of the accuracy after the machining is completed to ensure that it meets the standard.
Making an injection mold usually takes 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the part’s complexity. Once the mold is ready, the mold is tested, and the first out-of-stock (FOT), also known as T1 (for testing), is the first set of plastic parts sent to the customer. Then, the customer will give us feedback on the problem points after the trial run. We will make some minor mold adjustments based on the customer’s problem points and then send the new samples to the customer. The whole modification usually takes about two weeks. When the product improvement is completed, and the customer approves the entire set of samples, the mold will be validated for small-batch trial production.
Our regular order of plastic parts is 500-1000pcs. Of course, the first small batch of trial production in the early stage can be 100-500 pcs, but the small batch of trial production will be charged some shipping costs, which is based on the actual situation of the two sides to negotiate.
We have our in-house mold repair capability and will repair the molds until they are produced smoothly. If molds need to be rectified, we will create a data report and confirm with the customer before making any modifications.
